Product Description

On the war-torn planets of tomorrow, mankind's greatest battle is about to begin. With its frontier colonies devastated by a growing insurrection, Earth dispatches the elite 8th Armored Infantry (nicknamed "Section 8") to repel the coming onslaught. The nickname refers to an old United States military regulation where a soldier would be dismissed from service through being mentally unfit for duty. The near-suicidal missions that this division volunteers for brands them as insane by other military units. Section 8 deploys by 'burning in' from their orbital drop ships tens of thousands of feet above the battlefield, utilizing the most advanced arsenal of military hardware known to man. Their mission: to scout and secure difficult objectives and smash enemy defenses in lightning-quick assaults. An intense first-person shooter, Section 8 allows players to dynamically alter the flow of combat as they see fit. Employing tactical assets and on-demand vehicle deliveries, players are given unprecedented strategic control over epic sci-fi battlefields. Get ready to burn-in trooper; the war begins in 2009.

Micheal Keeton Said: I spent 60 bucks for this? ( Oct. 23rd 2009 )
I was really looking forward to this game coming out. I'm deployed to Kuwait and the only thing that's legal to do here in your time off is play games. Anyway, the game is a huge disappointment. I can't believe I spent [...] bucks for this game. Graphics are what you would expect from older games, and the interface with vehicles (the first tank) are impossible. The tank kept getting stuck in odd places, and you can't drive straight to save your life. Overall, this game was a waste of money, and I think I'll donate it to MWR, maybe someone there will have a better appreciation of it than I do.
Joshua M. Swan Said: Excellent Multiplayer, Lacking Singe Player ( Oct. 11th 2009 )
A solid game that deserves more attention than it got. Really diverse and immersive multiplayer FPS. Unique "DCM" Dynamic Combat Missions in MP which make for a high replay value for this game. Graphic Top Notch. Overall 4/5. Get it, love it.
A. Schreffler Said: Illogical and not much fun ( Sep. 24th 2009 )
The game looks good and has a creative theme but the plot has 0 development (if you really care about that) and most of the weapons physics make no sense, i.e. it's easier to kill someone with a pistol than assault rifle and easier to kill someone with a shotgun than rocket launcher. And since when do armored vehicles (which are impossible to drive adeptly, btw) loaded with weapons need to be escorted by infantry? And why are they so susceptible to small arms fire? I guess the definition of "armored" is different in the future. It's a big advantage that one can just respawn, but so much time is wasted "burning in" and running to the action that you might as well give up under certain circumstances.
Unsatisfied. Said: Not worth the money unless you want to play tribes 2 again. ( Sep. 22nd 2009 )
I bought this game based on the hype and videos/cutscenes. The game itself fell very very flat. I set the game to the hardest difficulty and then proceeded to beat it in less then 3 hours. Single player missions were very short easily beatable by the simple fact that you can die, combat drop back into combat and fly directly to the location you need to reach to beat the objective and then land and push a button. Mission after mission was easily beat this way, only on a few did you have to escort or hold a combat point for a set length of time. In all cases the badguys came across a sterotypical evil is awesome lets do bad things type of characters. The good guys all sounded like cutscenes from famous war movies. The voice overs were terrible, the audio is pathetic for the speak and geared almost 100% towards the sounds of shooting and explosions no ammount of adjustment fixed this. The in game graphics reminded me of the days of tribes and tribes 2. Big open areas with no scrub brush, trees, plants, just the ocassional big rock. Sure they threw in a few plants but overall the game was barren and devoid of anything that would make it realistic. The "autoaim" feature took all the fun out of aiming on my own, the "auto lock the target with the cursor" feature made it even worse. Even on the hardest difficulty the game was exceedingly easy, and obviously geared for massive multiplayer style combat and not for any form of singleplayer campaign. After beating this game it promptly went onto the backshelf where it will sit until someone takes it off my hands.

This game was mostly meant for online play. If your someone who likes to play a solo campaign, look elsewhere.
